I haven't even had the chance to play the update yet, but from what I've read in the update list on guildwars.com, I'm very impressed and pleased!!!

No more worrying about refund points. No more fruitless searching for that one elusive skill, no more worrying about where my pet has got to, and that's just hors d'oevres to the 2 new maps!

A pre-emptive "Well done!!" to all the devs, and a big raspberry to all the naysayers who have nothing better to do than sulk and whinge!

gives players even more reason to skip the weak boring plot and rush straight to droknars then to there for all their skills. GREAT.

Akimb0 do you notice that basically everyone is loving the update?
why is a soulreaping focus so awful?
i'm not sure how exploitable bugs aid enjoyment.
this game has fantastic stability. my warrior using a blue gladius that i bought for 200g can take on any gold fellblade weilding fissure armored warrior with no trouble.
by elite you mean the players that can get a group? and survive long enough to get them?
just because people like the game doesn't mean that they are brainless fanboys. ever thought it is because they are more of a glass is half full kinda person? (unlike in your case where the glass seems to be 1/100th empty)
so you are basically saying that whilst guild wars is awful every other similar game out there is even more awful? maybe online games just are not for you...

Akimb0 is trolling and i'll ignore the obvious flamebate remarks

However i do like to respond to some items

Broadband to solve loading times ... still i remember an everquest update taking 4+ hours to download on an 8Mb broadband connection.
Driving a porche in a traffic jam won't help you get anywhere any sooner

GW is not stable? Outside some disconnection problems i do not have any stability issues with GW. I cannot say this of ANY other online game i played before

Massive improvements, just because they did not fix one item that bothers you, you call the 100+ other improvements pathetic.

You say PVP and the rest of the game is boring and that WOW is better. Since these two games do not easily compare the conclusion would be really simple ... play the game you like most.
Why play a game that obviously frustrates you ... it is supposed to be fun.

The market is now messed up according to you. I think it was already messed up with items selling for hundreds of thousands of gold. I never understood that anyway because near perfect items were free and only marginally worse.

You complain about ppl skipping the plot to do things they want to do ... why and in what way does it hurt you how other ppl play their game. The only thing i can think off is droknars runners in low level arena's, besides that (and anything else that does interfere with other ppl's enjoyment) everybody should be able to enjoy the game the way they like.

I really really really really like this update.

BUT.

But I'm annoyed that its easy to get skills now. Took me months of toil, and I still don't have every skill. Now I can finish up and get every last skill in, what, a few days? I was looking forward to at least another month of skill hunting and faction farming, and running a new PvE toon through...

And making it easier to get good items too

Well, I still like the update, but my personal in-game goals just became so much easier to achieve, that they're no longer achievements to be proud of. Soon everyone will have all skills unlocked. When everyone's special, no one is special. I just hope ANet doesn't lower the price of Fissure Armour...

Great update, Anet has been responsive as always. The only think I'm perplexed about is why they didn't fix Ether Renewal. Too bad.

Good items were never rare with the farming, now theyre just worthless, and all skills and best armour in game if you have the gold will take around a day max?

When i got this game the box said it was about skill. Not the time spent to acquire skills and weapons will make you a winner, but your skills to use the tools available.

Seems this update is a step in that direction. Looking back on the time spent on the skills i have now .. thinking it was a waste? No ... i enjoyed it. I'm happy i don't have to repeat to much to get a few other characters geared up and ready to fight.

The 8 slot limit to skills used makes that not every single character of the same profession is alike.

At least they don't have to be .. if you want to use a cookie cutter build ... so be it.

As always you aim to please, or you please and aim ... I want to take this time to thank Anet for the obvious nice graphics, nice new area(s) ... monsters etc, for some reason i thought grenths would have been bigger ... but anyways ... not letting expectations exceed compiments .. I want to strike 1 piss off at you for this 3:40 am post ... you kicked me ... not 30 feet from my reward on the longer sorrows quest .... alll 5 done ... you kicked me ... and now refuse connection ... what becasue all of the europeans floooded your servers, you were not prepared for that? Irk I can move on ... it only toook a couple hours .... but all in all you did an amazing job ... I tried to take a screen of the firefly thing ... but it aggro'd to me and was dead before I could snap a few ctrl+shift+h pics .... damn ... and right when i thought i had a new avatar. TY Anet I wil compliment you till the cows come home .... but you need to fix the guild/ no guild issue with guild members being randomly ghosts.

hang on Akimb0. you are confusing me here.
you say that green weapons will make elite players even eliter and richer, then you say later that green items will be worthless. try to maintain continuity in you argument if you want people to take you seriously.

and calling someone a fan boy just because you can't think of any way to combat their argument is a bit pathetic.

if you hate GW so much (and WoW and Diablo according to you other posts) then just stop playing it. don't expect us to folow in your footsteps though.

as i said before: for you the glass appears to be 1/100th empty (for most it is 99/100ths full)

and skill IS integral to the game. weapons have only marginal advantages even if green. it is the way you use your character and weapons that determines your success. hence the lvl 20 cap. everyone is on an equal footing. skill is the decider

Indeed this is a brilliant update in all respects. the faction rewards, the item increase, the skill rebalance, the UW buff. the update was all great.

No they ARE worthless, yet they WILL be farmed like crazy by all the "elite." And sold to those who cant get to Sorrows for whatever reason that is.

There is no arguement, the update sucks, simple as that.

Who is us? me myself and I? you speak for everyone here? I point out the stupid flaws in this game and you bash me for it.

strange, most people I know, see, read the posts of dont like this update.

A lie, skill IS needed, but whats my skill going to do vs a farmer with all the best items in the game? ( the advantage might be marginal but its still an advantage. ) and I work a lot but the game says "time spent isnt a factor." strange that, a lot of players rush to droknars get the best armour, will now rush to THE skill trainer get every skill in the game. Wheras I dont have the time to farm, to get the gold to be rushed like that. Time spent IS a factor, and the biggest one at that.

I don't farm. i don't need to farm. i have never needed to farm.

what do you care if the 'elite' farm it to exhaustion? the items are worthless yes? so they get no gain for doing it.

lol you do need an argument to make a point. its that simple.

yes i was speaking for everyone, everyone who liked the update. they constitute 90%of the population of this forum. you pointed out that there are no soul reaping skills. and that there is a collector giving a useless item. other than that you simply said: this is crap, that is crap, everything is crap.

Skill does come with time played. but farming UW does not take skill. there are recipies for it. good luck rushing to the fire islands skill chap before reaching lvl 20. they will need a supportive guild to do it.

and besides. do i care if someone misses out the entire game content? not really no. their loss.

Akimbo, this is getting pathetic. You are either the most naturally discontented person I have ever come across, or you are whoring for attention. Either way I feel a bit sorry for you.

They did a lot of good with this patch and made a couple hundred thousand people happier. If for some reason you are not, you're in a rather extreme minority. Yes, they didn't fix everything in one whack, but if you were expecting them to you need to become more intimately introduced to reality. They did a good job. If they were going to make this the last patch for this game ever, I could understand why you might be upset, but just chill out. More good things are on the way. As is, I'm very happy. If you aren't, then do something that makes you happy. Other than trolling on forums and attempting to hijack threads.

Now i haven't played the expansion yet (i work nights) but i did read that the skill trainer on fire island would have all of the non-elite skills ... how can you be rushed to fire island? you'd have to ascend first wouldn't you?
